Charles Bellman was the second son and third child of David Girsh (Hersh) Bellman and his wife Raytzel Markson. His Hebrew name is listed as Esiah on his naturalization documents but is listed as Schaje on his 1908 emigration manifest.

While his siblings are involved as merchants in Safford, Charles is listed as a baker for the Gila Valley Bakery.

Charles married Ida Rosenberg in 1922 and relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where their daughter Dorothy was born in 1924.

Charles was a baker in Chicago. In his later years he lived in Los Angeles, California where his daughter Dorothy Bellman Didak had established a home. Charles died in 1977.
